Los Angeles Explodes in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Victory
The City of Angels witnessed citywide festivities after the Dodgers won a thrilling seven-match World Series title. Supporters worldwide joined Angelenos in jubilation, marking the first time in 25 years that a franchise has secured consecutive championships.
Victory Parade Draws Enormous Turnout
Local celebrations featured a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Online footage show countless of Angelenos flooding downtown streets, many displaying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The squad was seen riding high on a double-decker bus through the masses, raising the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at the stadium, where the team emerged to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ spinning music and Ice Cube driving a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Early Celebrations and Player Reactions
Festivities started prior to the procession, with Dodgers fans lighting flares in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
The World Series MVP, awarded the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the win.
“Losing is not an option,” Yamamoto said. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”
Mixed Reactions and City Unity
In contrast, Mark Walter received a cooler reception at the rally. Video footage from the gathering seem to depict Walter taking the stage to a mix of applause and jeers, with jeers interrupting his speech.
The World Series acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An estimated quarter-million people showed up to the championship parade last year, and according to team member one athlete, fans this year showed equal or greater enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s nearly twice from last year,” Freeman said. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
