Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for questions to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a spell of this nature with outcomes like these.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
